Innovation & Research Intern

The Department of Innovation & Research leverages new media and technology to delivery impactful health messages directly to youth. We first built empathy with our intended audience through human-centered formative research, which may include interviews, focus groups, observations, and literature research. We partner with talented researchers, developers, artists, and media producers to execute our vision, and disseminate widely to the population and the field using social media channels, scientific conferences, and blogs. Certain projects are rigorously evaluated using a variety of research designs, including randomized controlled trials, to assess their efficacy and behavior impact on the population.

Interns in our department quickly become part of our team and are integrated into key projects depending on their set of skills, interests, and fit. In the past years, interns have helped in a wide variety of tasks including literature reviews, supporting digital focus groups, developing educational video scripts, conducting quality assurance of digital products, writing educational content for web projects, monitoring social media campaigns, and supporting writing proposals and scientific publications. We actively seek creative, out-of-the box thinkers, and passionate individuals who are able to work independently, communicate effectively, and are willing to tackle multiple tasks efficiently. Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health, health communication, and research preferred.

Capacity Building & Evaluation Intern

The Capacity Building and Evaluation Department provides a wide range of capacity-building assistance services with high impact results for professionals and organizations to improve program and organizational outcomes and promote sustainability. The Healthy Teen Network approach to capacity-building assistance (CBA) can best be understood through our three core tenets that are infused into and inform our CBA: our approach is 1) holistic, 2) human-centered, and 3) guided by a systematic framework. Our interns provide support to capacity-building activities, such as trainings, presentations, elearning, and resource development. In the past, interns have completed projects such as assisting in the development of trainings, elearnings, and presentations; conducting literature reviews; supporting the writing of submissions for professional publications; conducting assessments or interviews; developing reports; and more.
