Specific project assignments and tasks will be based on the individual’s skill set, experience, and course objectives, to be mutually established, to support a positive learning experience.
Potential intern positions available:
Innovation & Research Intern
Interns in our department quickly become part of our team and are integrated into key projects depending on their set of skills, interests, and fit. In the past years, interns have helped in a wide variety of tasks including literature reviews, supporting digital focus groups, developing educational video scripts, conducting quality assurance of digital products, writing educational content for web projects, monitoring social media campaigns, and supporting writing proposals and scientific publications. We actively seek creative, out-of-the box thinkers, and passionate individuals who are able to work independently, communicate effectively, and are willing to tackle multiple tasks efficiently. Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health, health communication, and research preferred.
Communications Intern
In the past, interns have helped in a wide variety of tasks, including conducting literature reviews, developing social media guides, posting social media updates, designing graphics (e.g., ads, images), updating webpages, developing elearning resources, and writing various forms of resources, such as blog posts, tip sheets, position statements, annual reports, and more.
The ideal candidate is a creative self-starter with strong writing and oral communication skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments, work as part of a team, and work independently with little supervision. Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health, communications and marketing strategies, event planning, and/or and graphic design preferred.
Capacity Building & Evaluation Intern
Our interns provide support to capacity-building activities, such as trainings, presentations, elearning, and resource development. In the past, interns have completed projects such as assisting in the development of trainings, elearnings, and presentations; conducting literature reviews; supporting the writing of submissions for professional publications; conducting assessments or interviews; developing reports; and more.
We actively seek creative, out-of-the box thinkers, and passionate individuals who are able to work independently, communicate effectively, and are willing to tackle multiple tasks efficiently. Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and health education preferred.
Education & Experience
- Enrollment in an accredited university or college, in pursuit of a graduate degree
- Some experience or course work in adolescent health and/or sexuality and reproductive health
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of and interest in adolescent sexual and reproductive health
- Strong writing and oral communication skills
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English
- Proficient organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize work
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications
- Self-motivated to work independently and collaboratively with multiple departments
- Positive, proactive, and personable team player
- Sense of commitment and responsibility to Healthy Teen Network vision, mission, and guiding principles
Location
Interns must be available to report to the office in Baltimore, Maryland.

Start Date
To be determined. Position may be available for fall, spring, and summer semesters. Applications accepted on a rolling basis.
Hours and Schedule
Interns must be available for at least 15 hours per week, with a minimum three-month commitment.
Compensation
Compensation varies. Coordination with Federal Work Study Program for stipend may be available. Coordination with college/university for course credit is available.
