On this last day of April, also recognized as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, it’s a good time to reflect on the facts about sexual violence and how each of us can make a difference.
This year, Sexual Assault Awareness Month is celebrating its 17th anniversary with the theme “Embrace Your Voice” to inform individuals on how they can use their words to promote safety, respect, and equality to stop sexual violence before it happens. With the current spotlight that the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements have placed on sexual assault and harassment, it is important to understand the scope of the issue that persists in the United States. It is very likely that someone you know is a survivor of sexual violence and to use your voice to stand up for survivors by believing and supporting them.
To help raise awareness, here are some facts arragned in an infographic from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center that show why it is important to keep this conversation in the forefront.
