Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the staff at Healthy Teen Network, I would like to share the news that James B. Smith has announced his resignation as President and CEO of Healthy Teen Network.
In his brief tenure with us at Healthy Teen Network, James has provided strategic leadership and demonstrated his commitment to and excitement for our mission and guiding principles. While he won’t be here with us, we know he will continue following his passion for making the world a better place for all of us to live, thrive, and grow.
James reflected on all that he has learned about our work:
“Healthy Teen Network will always hold a special place in my heart. I strongly believe in its mission…For over 40 years, Healthy Teen Network has built a strong foundation of partners, members, and stakeholders to ensure adolescents are well-educated and treated with dignity and respect. I shall miss working with such a phenomenal group of dedicated professionals.”
The Board of Directors has long prepared for leadership succession, and I am confident that the process will proceed seamlessly. We intend to involve all of our constituencies in the search for a new CEO, and we will be in touch with you as our plans move forward. During this transition period, Janet Max, Vice President, has agreed to serve as Interim President and CEO.
Please join me in wishing James the best in his future endeavors.
Warm Regards,
Rhoda L. Smith, PhD, MSW
Board Chair
